Welcome to A Way to Wellness Art Therapy
CREATIVE RECOVERY FROM ADDICTION -DEPRESSION - ANXIETY
WHAT TO EXPECT
Many of my clients approach me with issues of anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, or alcoholism. Through cognitive behavioral therapy, I empower you to recognize how your thoughts and beliefs may be keeping you 'stuck', and incorporate Creative Arts Therapy to help unveil the unconscious motives behind your behaviors and patterns.
I foster self-reflection, mindfulness, and skills development to guide you toward finding peace of mind and breaking free from the mental chains that hold you back.

Services
A Way to Wellness Art Therapy embraces an holistic approach to mental health. My philosophy centers on viewing each individual as a complete entity, and attending to their unique needs. I encourage practices such as journaling, meditation, tapping, and mindfulness to serve as effective coping skills for managing daily challenges.
Another key aspect of this approach is the integration of creative expression into therapy. Art and creativity can be powerful tools for healing, allowing individuals to explore their emotions in a non-verbal way. Through various art and writing interventions clients are encouraged to connect with their feelings, facilitating self-discovery and promoting emotional well-being. This creative outlet not only fosters a sense of empowerment but also helps to build resilience in the face of life's challenges, making the therapeutic process both enriching and transformative.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive behavioral therapy helps to identify automatic negative thoughts and cognitive distortions, and focuses on challenging irrational beliefs and replacing them with realistic, objective thoughts.
Emotional Freedom Tapping
Emotional Freedom Tapping is a technique that stimulates acupressure points by tapping on meridian points on the body to release energy blockages that cause negative emotions, or feelings of fear and anxiety.
Journaling
Journaling or "Expressive writing" can be a positive tool in therapy to help identify, explore and express feelings. Other benefits include
- Reducing anxiety
- Breaking a cycle of obsessive thinking and brooding
- Improving the awareness and perception of events
- Regulating emotions
- Encouraging awareness
- Improving self esteem.
Meditation-Mindfulness
Mindfulness is a state of being devoid of ego and judgement. It is being completely in the present moment...no regrets about the past, or fears about the future. It is about being completely in the moment, aware of thoughts and feelings, and accepting them as temporary. It is a pathway to peace of mind.
SPECIALTIES
TRAUMA & PTSD
Many individual experience painful and recurring symptoms associated with traumatic experiences. Anxiety, fear, depression and hopelessness are some of the emotions that linger post traumatic events. Through mindfulness, meditation, and creative arts therapies I will guide you through the process of grief and healing.
LGBTQIA+ clients
Members of the LGBTQIA+ community are at a disproportionate risk of mental illnesses, including depression, anxiety, addiction, and PTSD. Finding help for issues in relationships, parenting, sexual dysfunction and workplace discrimination can be challenging.
I provide a safe, non-judgmental environment where you can explore your sexual orientation, and/or gender expression, and learn coping skills to manage symptoms of mental unwellness, improve your self esteem, and to learn to live authentically.
ADDICTION TREATMENT
Art therapy uses creative self expression to facilitate improved insight, increase self esteem, and to develop coping skills needed to thrive in recovery. Through Art, emotions are experienced in a non threatening way to allow the organization of feelings and to form a narrative around overwhelming experiences. Used in conjunction with cognitive behavioral therapies, art therapy can help transform negative self talk into a positive tool for change.
